3G Spectrum – $1.8Bn likely bid for All Indian Spectrum
It wasn’t an easy task to estimate the potential clearing bid prices for 3G spectrum in each circle. Taking into considerations various parameters – current subscribers, reach, income levels, etc I assigned a multiple to each telecom circle depending on the growth potential and 3G service absorption capacity. 3G Auction – Videocon + S Tel Not Serious Contenders
The DoT has released the list of qualified bidders along with the eligible points. As per section 4.2.4 of the section inviting applications for 3G and BWA Spectrum Auction Document, every bidder had to submit Earnest Money Deposit [EMD] in the telecom circles they are interested in for 3G / BWA spectrum. Qualcomm’s Bid for BWA Spectrum – WiMax Forum Protests
Qualcomm which changed and diluted its arrogance stand on its proprietary CDMA chip sets by promoting the Open Market Handset Alliance last year has realized the potential, a country with billion hands offers to it, and has now gone to an extra mile to bid for Broadband Wireless Access Spectrum. We believe Qualcomm is late into the game, as the powerful WiMax forum backed by Intel has already got the BWA Spectrum tuned to its requirements [2.3GHz though the Government Document says - There are broadly no restrictions on the technology to be adopted for providing services in the 3G Spectrum and BWA Spectrum] .
