Bharti Airtel Minutes Factory Under Pressure as market Doesn’t Digest Higher Tariffs – Q3 – FY2012 Update

February 9, 2012 · Filed Under Mobile, Telecom · Comment

India’s Leading Wireless Service Provider which is known for the Minutes Factory Model came under pressure for the quarter ending Dec-2012. Call volumes have shrunk 1% in six months from 221,560 bn minutes to 219,152 bn minutes – we can infer that this is due to tariff hikes. Mobile ARPU at Rs 187 and MOU at 419 down 1%. Thsi can be attributed to the fact that either Airtel’s subscribers made fewer calls, or they used SIMs of competitors to make calls. This clearly highlights that although all operators announced tariff hikes, some, like Idea and Uninor, focussed more on capturing traffic growth and subscriber net additions and not tariff hikes.

You Recommend / Demand – TRAI / Government Listens – Finally

January 10, 2012 · Filed Under Telecom · Comment

WE all know that from Top to Bottom most Government Officials are lethargic and not at all innovative. They just don’t treat citizens as customers that’s where the lacuna begins. Now that Anna Hazare has been pro-active calling for “Citizens Charter”, TRAI has come up with the same for Telecom Companies.

Apart from this I had been observing the exponential growth of Complaints against Telecom Operators on private Websites because consumers are frustrated. I wrote to the National Telecom Policy Panel as well as Copied the same to the TRAI, DoT etc. It is indeed nice to see our recommendation [PDF] being accepted as TRAI has mandated all the Telecom Companies to setup a Web Based Complaint Registering and monitoring System.
