Indian Government planning advanced web censoring system

Government of IndiaRecall 17th of July 2006, days after the Mumbia blast, the government directed ISPs to block several websites and blogs which were perceived as threat to Indian national security. However, our ISPs didn’t know how to selectively block and they blocked the entire domains such as “*.blogspot.com” etc.

The government is taking the issue of censoring the web seriously. Is the Government of India [GoI]  influenced by recent visit of Chinese President, Hu Jintao 😉 GoI plans to put an advanced screening system at all international landing stations such that blogs and websites considered as a threat to Indian national security are inaccessible by Indians. Internet is gaining popularity as the next generation media platform in India and I am not surprised by this reaction from our Government as we all know Babus and Netas want to control what is being written about them and their inefficient administration. Sure they can now play the National Security card.
