Reliance Communications – The RoadMap

Reliance Communications LtdAnil Ambani managed Reliance Communications has bounced back and not only aims to be the leader in Indian market but also globally. Here is an insight into the business of Reliance Communications Ltd.

Post split of the Reliance empire built by the controversial Polyester Prince, Dhirubhai Ambnai, Reliance Communications Ltd [RCom] was bleeding heavily. Within 3 quarters the entire story has changed. JM Morgan Stanley and Macquaire Research Equities India are betting big on the fortunes of RCom.

RCom is now organized into 3 business verticals - Wireless, Global and Broadband.

RCom Wireless: S P Shukla heads this division and manages wireless operations of both Reliance Telecom [GSM] and Reliance Infocomm [CDMA]. This division is currently the hottest and major source of revenue for RCom. Has 3G rollout plan in place. Competes head on with Bharti Airtel Ltd.

RCom Global: Global bandwidth operations including that of Flag Telecom are managed by this business division. RCom had also bid for telecom licenses in Kenya and Sri Lanka but has been unsuccessful till now. However, sooner or later, RCom will start rolling out its services outside India just like Bharti Airtel in Channel Islands. This business segment competes with VSNL.

RCom Broadband: Headed by Prakash Bajpai. Though Reliance broadband for consumers is still few quarters away, Reliance is pampering business customers and retail consumers in business discticts. Reliance Web World, Reliance World Video Conference and Reliance Telephone are run by this division. Reliance IPTV if comissioned will be through this division. My insiders in Mumbai tipped me that Petit Hall residence of Meswani brothers were fully wired and had IPTV trials when RCom was still a part of RIL. Not sure if Anil has unwired them. Reliance may go for IPTV or DishTV or both ?

On the financials front RCom is expected to report a net profit of $500 million for FY ending in March-07. I can’t upload the various research reports I have on RCom but drop me a line if you need one.

    Is Reliance BroadBand dependable. Order was taken from me on 16th June, 2007 with a cheque of Rs.500 as Installation cahrges. Local staff does not respond. I have been calling them and also written as below. Money as also not been returned.

    On 18th June, 2007 I placed order for Broadband. Manjunath of Reliance Communication, cell:9370122438, took a cheque No 724986, ICICI Bank for Rs.500 as Installation charges. He checked up with the office and told me that the Broadband will be installed within 10 days.

    I have been constantly chasing Reliance, but no one has informed me about the status. I was given number of the manager Imran, 020-30331766, responsible for Installation. Last week I called Imran, first Imran told me that the society has not given permission, when I told Imran that I have independent Bungalow so there is no question of Society permission, then he got Manjunath and a few people on the conference call and did some shouting to Manjunath. After some time Imran told me that he will call me back to update on Status.

    I am still awaiting. If Broadband was not feasible order should not have been taken. Even if later some problem was found, I should have been given status. It seems service of Reliance is very bad, as who so ever I talked informed me why did I go for Reliance.

    Can I expect my money back with Interest and nuisance charges for chasing Reliance or immediate connection.

    Thanks a lot !!! , Now my reliance no. 9350109124 , is working fine from yesterday (23/09/2007).
    But 1 problem is there, for that please refer the following history………..

    As I used to recharge my this no 9350109124 by “Reliance India card” with Rs. 875 every month.(incoming is free up to 2021).
    On date 30/07/2009 usually I recharged my cell with 875.
    After some days due to the issue of address proof my account is blocked (incoming and outgoing) on 12 or 13 of Aug/2007 , at that time there was more Rs. 600 amount balance.
    I submitted my all documents on 16/AUG/2007.Reliance takes 1 Months and 7 days for solving my problem… (u can see all my previous mails for this )at last on 23/Sep/2007 my cell is working.
    But… the amount of Reliance India card account is “0″. It is due to the validy expired . But this validity expired is not from my side.
    This is only due to the reliance service as it takes 1 Months and 7 days for resolving my problem.
    just I would like to tell you that .. please recharge or recover my amount whatever it my be at the time of blocked. and It should be…..

    So please resolve this problem .check from your database, find out the dates and all details about my no 9350109124.
    And refund my amount or recharge my balance whatever it was at that time.

    Hey gentleman, I also had a problem for my reliance number for which I had called/ visited RCom many times but all efforts were wasted. Finally I wrote my problem to their Chairman (at email: anil.ambani@relianceada.com) , and could you beleive that the problem which could not be resolved for last more than 40 days was resolved within 7 working hours.

    This is raju from pune, whoever is here its not my concern ,i have apllied for reliance broadband connection at my home ,with the check of 500/- rs. of hdfc bank.But the sales guy Mr. Arvind Khairnarkar is not installed the connection sice one month,If u can pls do it at earliest ,i am so busy that i couldnt go to the local reliance office in vardhman nagar,pune.In this way ur currupting the name and fame of the reliance.

    Sir,
    I have purchased reilance Datacard since 6 months.But having problems with it .Sometimes network is not there ,sometimes correct bill is not generated.If i call custmer care ,they route me to Reliance web-world.
    And there also my complains are not at all entertained.So fianlly I have decided to disconnect it from this month.
    I would really like somebody to hear this request and improve the service.

    Dear Sir,

    We are the contractor of Reliance communications and we are doing broadband related works in karnataka. The problem, what we are facing here is, our bill will be not get sanctioned even after 3 month to four month, Each and every stage everybody asking bribes to move the files from one table to another. just like government office.
    Please look into this matter and try to solve this, the following are few names of the persons, who asks bribe are, Mr Prabhu QC department Mr. Venkatesh QC department and Mr. Nagaraj account department

    Please tell us is there any way, how to stop this bribe in private sectors and whom to contact regarding this. Is there vigilance department in Reliance to contact, Please help us.

    RTL [SMART]in west bengal use to change the PLAN suddenly and costomers are being forced to be with changed PLAN.it is a fraud.I have 2 connections.i will have to replace both the sim cards with another company”s sim cards.i am a costomer of RTL since last 8 yrs while i was working at Danbad jharkhand. sorry to saySMART a “fraud” but it is my feeling. ajay kumar

    I had applied for Reliance Wimax and all that I got was a reference number with no contact number. The person whom I called Irfan is now not ready to answer the call or he is every time busy or the phone is not reachable.

    Is there any site or any where in this world we can check the status of our application. I am a corporate and really have no time chasing up people every minute. All i need is a status if ya’l cant provide a connection please dont give a gurantee
