Reliance Retail plans all India GSM WiMax Network

November 26, 2006 · Filed Under Broadband, Mobile, Telecom

Reliance Retail IndiaMukesh Ambani controlled Reliance Industries Limited has chalked out plans for a private PAN-India GSM network to power the backend of Reliance Retail and other new ventures[ Oil Retailing and Reliance SEZ]. Mukesh Ambani, the big embracer of CDMA has embarassed the CDMA community [J/K] by opting for a combination of GSM and WiMax technologies to power his Retail and SEZ dreams.

This network will be the backbone for entire Mukesh Ambani’s group operations. After the division of Reliance Empire, RIL shifted its entire Mobile communications business to Bharti Airtel Ltd and Leased and Wireline business to BSNL. RIL will invest $750 Million to build this network and should be a cake walk for Mukesh this time. But the real challenge ahead of Mukesh is to obtain the license and GSM spectrum.

    Folks,

I am now worried by applying to RELIANCE WIMAX.
I applied for a RELIANCE WIMAX connection past 2 weeks. I still havent got any connecion yet though. I am tired of calling the executives each and every day atleast for 3 times. I get a tailor made answer as “Your connection is under process, you will get the connection in next 3 days”. Now a days no one is responding to my call at all. If I try from other no. they give me the above mentioned response :( I dont know when will i be getting my connection.
Even if i get my connection in next couple of days, I am worried whether the installation process will be successfull or not, if not again how bad do I need to struggle. More over i am not getting a direct contact to RELIANCE.

Guys listen to this i called up one M/s Reliable enterprises for the reliance WiMax connection, got their phone number from this link –

    http://convergence.in/blog/2007/06/05/reliance-wimax-in-bangalore-up-and-running/

i asked them for a demo, and they said that they do not have a WiMax connection to give a demo. I asked them why they do not have a demo and they said that in their area they do not have coverage – NO SIGNALS. Here we have a company selling WiMax connections who themselves do not have network coverage, then you only imagine the plight of us consumers.

Basically we are all BAKRAS for these companies who test their product on us………….. CAreful guys 9 out of 10 reviews are negative for Reliance WiMax BroadBand, stick to something tried and trusted such as BSNL or AirTel.

On a particular post on mouthshut.com someone had said that the BSNL customer care is better than reliance, so now you onyl think how their services are. Even they are bad in billing also, some of my friends are having issues with their mobile phone billing.

You still want to take a connection, I wish you all the best.

I got Connection on Sat, Sep 29, 2007, the Person name Manjunath came to install the tower outside and told there is DHCP issie today and will be rectified EOB, but till Monday night it was as it is. I called up Reddy )Head Bangalore) he told there is some problem in Munbai DHCP Server which is not assinging IP address, but would be fixed on Monday, Today is Wednessday, no body is there to take care about costumer at all.

They are simply cheaters, bastards, fucking, what all you can say is less.

[...] then waiting for policies and floating tenders around. Latest, feedback about Reliance WiMax is not very encouraging. [On the Forum, their seems to be a problem with DHCP servers and Reliance folks for some reason [...]

    Guys,

This Wimax really sucks. I have taken it a month back. I promise you that from the day of installation there is no day without a problem. I keep on calling customer care stupids without any use. THe common answers i get are :
    1. our server is down i cannot lodge a complaint. I am forwarding an offline mail on urgent basis. Ur problem will be rectified soon
    2. We are working on ur problem. our engineer will come to ur site and work on this.(Its 1 month no body even bothered to call me)

I strongly recommend not to go with reliance.

    hi guys,
I am from Bangalore. I took the wimax connection from reliance. The service is pathetic.
Please don’t go with the Reliance Wimax connection.
There DHCP server will be down some twice or thrice in a week (I have experienced it). Apart from this, there is some serious problem with their instrument (indoor). If you call their customer care, they will give you a call report number. There after you keep on calling them. Every time they will say the same thing, “We will look into the matter”.
I am tasting the same thing for last 4 days and no action has been taken.
So guys, I will advice every body “NOT TO GO WITH RELIANCE ” .

Reliance wimax is really very good. I have subscribed to 300 kbps at rs.999/month and i am getting more than 400 kbps. The DHCP issues mentioned above seem to have solved by reliance guys. Now i am getting connected without any problems.

  21. Mandeep on March 2nd, 2008 7:46 pm

I had a Relaince Connection from Dec 07 ~ Feb 08 which i had to finally terminate due to the poor service. Issues i faced were
    1. No connectivity (signal) most of the time
    2. If able to get signal, not able to get DHCP Assigned IP address
    3. If able to get DHCP (chances are one in a hundred) not able to get consistent speed
    4. Logged in complaint with customer support time and again, but it seems to be restricted only to their system log, does not translate into corrective action on ground.

In nutshell, the most horrendus and horrifying internet experience i have ever had with an ISP.

    regards,
    Mandeep
